KARACHI - Central procession of martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA) was peacefully concluded at Imambrgah Hussainian Iranian, Kharadar, amid strict security. However, the central Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession came under fire when the Rangers personnel opened fire on the procession after exchange of harsh words with the mourners.Two people including a policeman and a mourner were injured in the incident. The injured were shifted to the hospital.According to details, as the procession was passing through the Kharadhar area of the city, it came under sudden fire of the Rangers and the FC personnel deployed for security of the procession. It created chaos in the area as people ran for some protective cover. Some people also pelted with stones on the nearby vehicles.The participants turned angry after firing and attacked with stones on the vehicles parked near the firing site. They hurled stones towards the Rangers to express their anger over their indiscriminate firing.According to the Commissioner of Karachi, Roshan Ali Sheikh, firstly the firing was started from inside the procession and after that the Rangers opened aerial fire to control the situation.On the other side, one volunteer of the procession, Muhammad Mehdi of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen condemned the false statement of Commissioner Roshan Sheikh, saying that he was leading the people. He claimed that no firing was done from inside the procession, saying that the Rangers and FC personnel opened fire on the procession after exchange of hot words with the mourners. Government should take notice of the aerial firing of the Rangers.Earlier, several small processions, taken out from different parts of the city, gathered at Nishtar Park to become part of the central procession while noted cleric Maulana Shahan Shah Hussain Naqvi, in his address, highlighted various noble aspects of the life of Hazrat Ali (RA).He said that Hazrat Ali (RA) was brought up under the shadow of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that was why he is considered the treasure of knowledge and the symbol of tolerance, bravery, generosity and eloquence even today. He played exemplary role in serving Islam and confronted the enemies of religion and Shariah while shattering the foundations of oppression, brutality and suppression till his martyrdom, he added. He condemned the US and Israeli conspiracies against the Syrian government and termed that Syria is the bastion of Palestinian resistance and the US and Israel are hatching conspiracies to destabilise this bastion.Maulana Shahan Shah Hussain also condemned genocide of Muslims in Myanmar and demanded the United Nations, the OIC, and human rights organisations to play their role to stop the brutalities against Muslims.After the Majlis, the central procession set off from Nishtar Park under the leadership of Abu-Turab Scouts. It passed through Britton Road, Shahrah-e-Khurasan and MA Jinnah Road where mourners offered the Zohreen prayers at MA Jinnah Road led by Maulana Hamid Hussain Mashadi which was organised by Imamia Students Organisation. ISO Karachi office-bearer Baqar Abidi denounced the United Nations and the OIC’s criminal silence on the genocide of Muslims in Myanmar and urged the United Nations, Muslim countries and the OIC to play their due role to stop genocide of Muslims in Myanmar. He announced that Muslims across the world would celebrate the Quds Day on 28th of Ramazan to show their solidarity with the innocent Palestinians. He also condemned the US attacks on Pakistani territories and urged the government to cut off relations with Washington.After the prayers, mourners of the Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession staged demonstration against the US-backed Israeli conspiracies in Syria and Muslim genocide in Myanmar and torched the American and Israeli flags.He procession restarted from the MA Jinnah Road towards its traditional destination while passing through Mansfield Street, Empress Market, Regal Chowk, Preedy Street, Bolton Market, Rampat Rai Road, Nawab Mahabbat Road, Khanji Road and Kharadar and culminated at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian peacefully. Thousands of volunteers were deployed for security of the procession who cordoned off the whole procession route with the help of police and the Rangers. The city police had adopted foolproof security arrangements for the safety of mourners along the route of the procession. A total of 14,000 police and rangers personnel were deployed to ensure foolproof security on this occasion. The streets and alleys adjoining the main MA Jinnah Road were sealed to prohibit entry of irrelevant persons and vehicles while all the nearby markets remained closed on the directions of government authorities. Several departments and organisations including CDGK, MWM, ISO, SUC and others had set up their first-aid medical camps at different spots alongside the main MA Jinnah Road to facilitate the mourners.DG RANGERS REVIEWS SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS: The Director General of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, Maj Gen Rizwan Akhtar, reviewed security arrangements for the Youm-i-Ali procession. An official of the Rangers said here on Friday that Maj Gen Rizwan Akhtar visited the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) control room. He also visited the Youm-i-Ali procession route to review the security arrangements.
