The district administration launched a massive crackdown on restaurants and fast food outlets allegedly selling sub-standard edibles and sealed famous restaurants besides imposing fine worth thousands. The special squad sealed Shah Jahan Grill and imposed Rs25,000 fine besides getting registered case against the owners of the restaurant. Similarly, Rs. 25000 fine was imposed on Hardees, Rs30,000 Pizza Hut and Rs10,000 Burger King.
The team was led by AC city Malik Ata ul Haq who told journalists that the district government had waged jihad against those who were selling poison in the name of food. He declared that the operation would continue on daily basis.
KBP ELECTS OFFICE BEARERS: The members of Kissan Board Punjab elected on Monday Dr Abdul Jabbar as their new Punjab president and Babur Khan Durrani provincial secretary general.
The workers elected their representatives during a special meeting held in connection with re-organization of the KBP. The workers also elected Arsalan Khan Khakwani as central vice president, Muhammad Anwar Gujar and Haq Nawaz provincial vice presidents, Mian Muhammad Ibrahim Multan division president, Hafiz Rauf Dera Ghazi Khan president, Jam Hazoor Bukhsh Bahawalpur president, Ch. Shaukat Hussain Sahiwal president and Ch Manzoor Hussain Lahore president.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Abdul Jabbar said that the country would automatically prosper if the financial condition of farmers improved. He lashed out at the government and said that ill-advised policies of the rulers brought both agriculture and farmers at the verge of complete destruction.
He warned the government that the farmers would take to the roads, if the government failed to fulfil their demands. He said that the construction of dams and water reservoirs was imperative to prevent the country from destruction.
