LAHORE -The Pakistan Goods Transporters Association on Monday warned the Punjab government to withdraw 16 per cent tax on services and 0.3 per cent withholding tax or else they would take their strike call to the country level.

The association made this announcement in a meeting attended by some 300 delegates of transporters across the Punjab here at local hotel in Lahore.

Association president Malk Shaukat told The Nation that an alliance of all the transporters’ associations had been formed during the meeting and it had been decided to hold protests in front of press clubs in major cities of the province on August 17 (Monday).

All associations will protest in front of Punjab assembly on August 22 if our demands were not met, he added.

The transporters warned to take out a rally and staged sit-in in front of National Assembly in Islamabad if Punjab government ignored their demands of withdrawing new taxes.
