Lord Curzon was quite candid about the courage and bravery of Afghans as a nation. He remarked that the determination of the Afghans to oust the foreigners was so strong that they fully exposed the myth of British power during the invasion of their country in 1889. According to him, the Afghans were successfully able to thwart Great Britain's hegemonic designs in the East. Sir Winston Churchill has also appreciated the courage and resolve of the Afghan nation. The Soviets also learnt a lesson during the Soviet-Afghan war. Today, the same lesson is being learnt by the Americans. The Afghans are invincible. -GULSHUN ASLAM, Lahore, December 10.
