ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister Rehman Mailk has sought explanation from IGP Islamabad Kaleem Imam regarding irregularities committed in recruitments of policemen and has imposed ban on new jobs in the Interior Ministry and related departments. The IGP has allegedly recruited several police personnel and asked them by phone to join their duties on emergency basis as he was aware of the imposition of the ban. It is pertinent to mention here that as per the advertisement issued on Sept 20 this year by the Ministry, thousands of candidates appeared for test for different posts. As many as 35,000 candidates were recruited in the capital by the recruitment committee. Surprisingly, all these appointments were made while the head of the said committee was out of the country. Sources claim that the Islamabad police checked the papers of applicants within few hours saying the recruitment process was highly questionable. Majority of these candidates are very influential and enjoy good contacts with high-ups, a source disclosed to TheNation.
