Atiqa Odho indicted in liquor case

RAWALPINDI The court of a magistrate Saturday framed charges against All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) central leader and renowned TV artist Atiqa Odho in case of possessing two wine bottles. Magistrate Hamayun Pervaiz, during a trial, indicted Atiqa Odho formally in case of keeping two bottles of alcohol in her luggage during a domestic travel some months ago. Atiqa Odho, however, pleaded not guilty; therefore, the magistrate directed the prosecution to produce the witnesses on the next date of hearing on December 17, 2011 for further proceeding. Meanwhile, APMLs former central leader Atiqa Odho also filed an application in the court seeking exemption for her personal appearance in the case. Nonetheless, the court rebuffed the application and ordered Atiqa to appear before the court in the case on every hearing. It is pertinent to mention here that Atiqa Odho was briefly detained by Airport Security Forces (ASF) on account of carrying two bottles of alcohol in her luggage prior to air travel through PIA to Karachi but she was freed after intervention of some influential person.
