Blast, fire damage two shrines

KHYBER AGENCY Bomb blast and fire damaged hundred-year-old two shrines in Kam-Shelman, a far flung area of tehsil Landi Kotal here on Friday night, official and local sources said. In the first incident miscreants set ablaze the tomb of saint Sheikh Bahadar Baba, sources said. The veranda of the Mazaar was gutted due to fire, locals said. In another incident in Kam-Shelman area, militants blew up the shrine of Sufi Saint Sheikh Musa by planting explosive device inside the tomb. The blast partially damaged the shrine. However, no injury or casualty was reported in the incident as no one was present at Mazaar at the time of blast, sources said. The explosion also smashed windowpanes of the surrounding residencies. The locals rushed to the spots after the incidents and started rehabilitation work of the shrines. They demanded of the government to make sure security of the Muslim holy places. It merits mentioning here that in the recent past over a dozen of shrines in the area were either razed to ground or partially damaged by installing explosive devices to them.
