LAHORE Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore SSP Syed Ahmed Mobeen snubbed senior traffic officers over their lethargic attitude towards controlling the vehicular activities on the Canal Road on Saturday. During his surprise visit, the CTO observed gridlock and the long queues of motorcars at the point of Jail Road Underpass and admonished his subordinates over the situation. He also directed them to warn their traffic wardens to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the Canal Road. On this occasion, the CTO ordered DSPs and other circle in-charges to depute additional number of wardens at the aforesaid road especially during the ongoing developmental work aimed to expand this artery with a view to ensure smooth flow of traffic. He, however, directed the DSPs and circle in-charges to remain high alert during rush hours and ensure smooth flow of traffic on both sides of canal. Directing them to depute more diversions points on several spots of the Canal Road, the CTO Ahmed Mobeen ordered his DSPs to implement the already prepared comprehensive diversion plan to divert heavy traffic from the Mall Underpass to Jail Road and Doctors Hospital to Campus Bridge. The CTO further said that the carpeting of road on both sides would be started within next a couple of weeks and people may suffer during rush hours as the road would be partially or completely closed for traffic. He urged the citizen to seek guidance from the traffic helpline 1519 and traffic radio before taking the Canal Road.
