LAHORE Homage was paid to Major Shabbir Sharif, a valiant warrior who displayed unparallel courage while defending the motherland and embraced martyrdom on December 6, 1971 at Sulemanki Sector. He earned the highest gallantry award of Nishan-e-Haider. Corps Commander Gujranwala Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif, who is younger brother of Shaheed, laid floral wreath and offered fateha on his grave at Miani Sahib Graveyard. The mother of the shaheed, senior officers of the battalion, Major General Azeem Asif also laid floral wreaths on the mazar of shaheed and offered fateha. It may be mentioned here that Maj Shabbir Sharif Shaheed enjoys the unique honor of being the proud recipient of Sword of Honor, Sitar-e-Jurrat and Nishan-e-Haider, the most coveted awards of Pakistan Army. The battalion of Frontier Force Regiment, in which Major Shabbir Sharif was commissioned, celebrates Shabbir Day annually with gratitude. A smartly turned out group of this unit also arrived here to perform honor guard duties at the mazar of the martyr to pay homage to the valiant son of the battalion at Miani Sahib Graveyard.
