Rawalpindi - Two poor nomad girls burnt to death on Wednesday when huge fire engulfed their hut here at Landco Housing Society on Adyala Road. Rescue 1122 shifted the charred dead bodies to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where the deceased were identified as Zainab, 3, and Fatima, 5.

According to eyewitnesses, huge fire engulfed the hut established on a piece of land at Landco Housing Society. “There were four other children in the hut, besides the two baby girls who were sleeping at that time. One of four children lit a match stick and the dry branches of hut caught fire.

The children managed to escape from the hut while the two baby girls died,” they said. According to eyewitness, the mother of the dead girls works as housemaid. She was not present in the hut at the time of incident.  Police also reached the spot and started investigation.

No solid reason behind the inferno was know by the law enforcement agencies. The doctors handed over the dead bodies to heirs after conducting external post mortem. The deceased girls were laid to rest in Haji Yaseem Graveyard on Adyala Road amid sobs and tears.
