LAHORE - The Lahore High Court disposed of all contempt petitions against the Punjab finance secretary after the department submitted schedule of payment of pension to all pensioners across Punjab on Wednesday.

The Finance Department through Assistant Advocate General Anwar Hussain told the court that the department would release pension in four different phases to all pensioners.

The law officer said that in first phase, all the pensioners who retired before 1991 would be paid their total pension, in second phase, all the pensioners who retired during year 1991 and 1994, in phase three, the pensioners who retired during 1994 and 2001 while in phase four, all those pensioners who retired after 2001. The pension, he said, would be paid to all pensioners.

Over the submission of schedule for payment of pension, the court disposed of all petitions seeking contempt proceedings against the officials for not complying with the previous order of the court that all the pensioners be paid total pension.

Earlier, the LHC had directed Punjab Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary to submit plan for the payment of arrears to pensioners on hundreds of petitions filed by pensioners of different department of the province.
