Alkaram event lauded

Samsung launches 850 EVO
LAHORE (PR): Samsung launched the 850 EVO, the latest addition to its branded solid state drive (SSD) line-up. Based on Samsung’s 3-bit 3D Vertical NAND (V-NAND) technology, the 850 EVO SSD provides a significant boost in performance and endurance as compared to its predecessor, making it ideal for use in mainstream PCs. With the slogan of “a new caliber of performance & endurance,” the new drive will be available globally in a total of 53 countries in the United States, European and Asian markets later this month.

Pak Sarmaya Mehfooz Fund

LAHORE (PR): Pakistan Sarmaya Mehfooz Fund (PAKSMF), a new Capital Protected Scheme has been launched by MCB-Arif Habib Savings and Investments Limited.  It’s an open end collective investment scheme with an investment term of two years.  Usually people hesitate to invest in the stock market, because they have a fear of losing their capital, but if capital protection is ensured for the next 2 years and up to 50% of savings are invested in stock market then definitely it makes one to think about it.

Credit Suisse gets award
KARACHI (PR): The publication also named the Government of Pakistan’s $388 million selldown in United Bank Limited as Best Pakistan Deal. Credit Suisse acted as sole international lead manager on the transaction in June this year.
Ali Naqvi, Head of Equities for Asia Pacific, said: “We are extremely thrilled by the recognition as Pakistan emerges as an important market in the region.

DIBPL chief opens branch

KARACHI (PR): Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Limited (DIBPL) inaugurated its Khayban-e-Bukhari Commercial Branch in Karachi recently. The DIBPL branch was inaugurated by the Chairman of DIBPL Saeed Ahmed Abdulla Al Sharif. The CEO of DIBPL Junaid Ahmed, other members of the board of directors and senior management were also present at the occasion.
Saeed Ahmed said that he is very pleased to inaugurate the branch and confirmed the Dubai Islamic Bank’s commitment to the long term promotion of Islamic Banking across Pakistan.

2-day moot on challenges in business at NUML
ISLAMABAD (PR): A 2-Day International Conference on Challenges in Business and Management (ICCBM) which was organised by the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS), opened at National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
ICCBM was inaugurated by Mr Zaid Bashir, CEO Gul Ahmed Textile Mills along with Rector NUML Maj Gen ® Masood Hasan in a simple but a graceful ceremony which was attended by Mr. Jononov Sherali, Ambassador of Tajikistan, M. Kanwar Tariq, Honorary Consul General Republic of Paraguay, Mr. Nedim Makarevi, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other foreign diplomats.

Mobilink-Apple iPhone 6 series

LAHORE (PR): Mobilink and Apple have partnered to launch Apple iPhone 6 series in Pakistan. As a result of this partnership, customers can now pick up an iPhone 6 of their choice from selected Mobilink Business Centers across Pakistan. All iPhones purchased from Mobilink will be given 3G data services free of cost for a period of 6 months.

Meezan report wins award

LAHORE (PR): Meezan Bank’s Annual Report 2013 achieved yet another distinction by receiving the  ‘Certificate of Merit’ in the ‘Private Sector Banks’ category by South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) under the ‘Best Presented Accounts Award’ for 2013. 
This is the second accolade for Meezan Bank’s Annual Report 2013; earlier in the year it had won third position in the Banking sector category at the ‘Best Corporate Report Award’ event organized jointly by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan.

Swiss team visits CDC
ISLAMABAD (PR): Roger M. Kull (Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland in Islamabad), Mr. Emil Wyss (Consul General at the Consulate General in Karachi), and Mr. Jordan James Din (Head of Commercial Section at the Consulate General) visited Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited (CDC).
Hanif Jakhura, CEO-CDC and senior management of CDC welcomed the delegation, who was apprised about the performance of Pakistan Capital Market.

Intel’s interactive session held
LAHORE (PR): Intel held the first of two year-end sessions, the second one of which is scheduled to be held in Karachi today. The year-end sessions recapped key moments from 2014 and a look ahead at predictions for the coming year.
Naveed Siraj Country Manger Intel Pakistan presented a keynote speech highlighting it has been another breakthrough year for Intel and the IT industry as a whole, with the Asia Pacific and Japan region being a major driver for significant change.

Hydel  power demanded
LAHORE (PR): The Government should give the highest priority to provide hydel & gas, thermal and coal-fired thermal power stations in the pubic sector and ensure provisions of gas to closed thermal power stations of generation companies at Guddu, Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Jamhoro, Kotri and other Stations for overcoming loadshedding and to provide cheaper Elecy. These views were expressed by Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of the Union in a conference of WAPDA workers held on Wednesday.
