ABU DHABI - Danish trio of Carsten Warming Hansen, Frederik Ohrgaard and Thomas Larsen averaged 239.78 for three games on long oil to take a commanding 183-pin lead after the first of three squads in the World Cup Championships Trios event played here at Khalifa International Bowling Centre on Wednesday.

Pakistan filed two trios, the first comprising Ijaz, Hussain Chatha and Fazil Mania, while second consisting of Sultan Durrani, Omer Khalid and Sardar Ahmer Saldera, the youngest of all with only 17. Pakistanis will start action late Wednesday late. Colombia's Manuel Otalora sets the pace in All-Events after 15/24 games.

The Danish trio came out of the gates with a 732 game, and continued to strike as they added games of 686 and 740 for a three-game total of 2,158, just 38 pins of setting new championships record set by the United States in 2010 with 2,196 pins.

Larsen (725), Ohrgaard (718) and Hansen (715) rolled the three highest individual series in the squad and out averaged nearest rivals, Finland by 20 pins. Finns Perttu Jussila, Juhani Tonteri and Joonas Jehkinen rolled games of 662, 646 and 667 to finish the block in second place with 1,975 total and an average of 219.44. Jehkinen led the trio with 707.

Colombia's Andres Gomez joined hands with Manuel Otalora and Jaime Gonzales to take third place with 1,955 (217.22), Otalora (703) and Gomez (700) both cracked the 700-mark.
