Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the government had completed a century of its promises and now, it needs to put up some score on the performance board.
Addressing the Rising Rawalpindi EXPO on Tuesday, Siraj said that there was a fresh flood of price hike and unemployment in the country but all the ministers had been declared pass. “It seems that the Hajis and the Qazis were declaring each other pass,” he remarked.
He said that the internal enemies were more dangerous for the country than the enemies abroad. “It is these internal enemies who have destroyed all national institutions,” he added.
The JI chief said that the youth were the future of the country and the beauty of the country was because of its young and talented boys and girls. “The youth under the leadership of the Quaid-e-Azam had established this country and they would pull it out of the challenges it was facing,” he stated.
Sirajul Haq said that around 80,000 people die in the country every year due to cancer, while five lakh others died due of hepatitis. “Almost thirty-three per cent of the population was suffering from high blood pressure and 89 per cent people were not getting clean drinking water,” he added.
He said that in such a scenario, the youth who were able to get education were most fortunate and they should be thankful for that. Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan had unlimited resources but it was facing problems due to incompetent leadership. He said, “So far, the rulers had not been able to decide whether our medium of instruction should be Urdu or English.”
He said that the children of the nation had been divided on the basis of poverty and riches, the schools for the poor did not have even light and furniture. He said that more than three million children were getting education at the religious Madrissahs, where both the teachers and the students did not have basic facilities. He said that the government would have to raise the education budget to five per cent.
