Federal Defence Minister Pervez Khattak has emphasised on the need for optimum utilisation of public properties.
He was chairing meeting of the working group on the alternative use of public properties, held in Islamabad on Tuesday. Pervez Khattak said that the unutilised land would be developed through public-private partnership and asked the provinces to identify the lands and the future plan for their utilisation.
He also directed to conduct a survey and prepare a feasibility report on various pilot projects. The meeting was briefed that 704 apartments would be built on 120 acre of land in sector F-6 in Islamabad.
The defence minister said that the working group has identified 229 properties of different federal governments with 47,230 kanal area, which would be utilised to generate revenue and also for construction of houses for Prime Minister’s five million housing project.
He said no lease would be extended to any person on public properties. Pervaiz Khattak has also directed to secure land of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) from encroachers at Gaddani. He, however, said that no person will be displaced and even poor people who are living on government land will be allocated houses in the public land.
