Ushna/Noor lift ladies doubles title in Federal Cup National Tennis

LAHORE - Ushna Suhail and Noor Malik – both from Pakistan Wapda - lifted the ladies’ doubles title by beating the duo of Sarah Mehboob and Meheq Khokhar 2-1 in a well-contested final of the 34th Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, Islamabad. 
According to information made available here, the ladies’ doubles final saw both Ushna and Noor playing tremendous tennis against the spirited pair of Sarah and Meheq 2-1, with the score being 3-6, 6-3, 10-7. Talking to The Nation after registering title victory, champion Ushna said: “I am very happy to win the doubles title. It was a very competitive doubles final, where we were down 3-6, but then we made a good comeback as we are 2-3 down in the second set but we played well and took the set 6-3. 
“The super tie-break proved to be a see-saw battle, where we both the finalists gave tough time to each, and in the end, we prevailed over the opponents and won the tie-break 10-7, thus clinched the ladies’ doubles title,” she added. Noor Malik of Wapda, while sharing her views, said: “I am grateful to my father, Rashid Malik (ZTBL), for his training and guidance, which is helping me excelling at national level. I am very glad with this title victory and eager to win more national titles.”
Meanwhile in the ladies’ singles, Sarah Mahboob and Ushna Suhail breezed into the final with imposing victories over their opponents. Sarah overpowered Esha Jawad by 6-0, 6-2 while Ushna Suhail defeated Noor Malik 6-2, 6-2. 
Top seed Aqeel Khan and third seed Muhammad Shoaib will vie for the top honor in the men’s singles final. In the semifinals, Aqeel Khan was up against Yousaf Khalil and defeater him by 2-0, with the score being 6-2, 6-3 while Mohammad Shoaib had to struggle hard to beat Mohammad Abid 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
