LAHORE–Supreme Court Bar Association’s former President Asma Jahangir has envisaged that the Supreme Court’s decision in contempt of court case against Prime Minister would be against him as the judiciary is not unbiased.

Talking to reporters on the premises of the Lahore High Court, Asma Jahangir said:

“I know the outcome of the contempt of court case against the Prime Minister. It would be definitely against Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani. The Supreme Court should consider in the deficiencies of its verdicts which lead to the contempt of court proceedings against anyone.”

Asma Jahangir said that judiciary and establishment are working on the same mind set, which is a violation of the fundamental rights of the people of Pakistan. She was of the view that Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani would defend himself in the case and he still reserves the option of seeking pardon.

Answering a question, she said that the legal fraternity had not run the historical movement for the restoration of one person, but for the whole judiciary. Asma Jahangir alleged that the current judiciary is a mirror image of the old one. Talking about ISI Director General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, Asma Jahangir said that the Supreme Court has no right in postings and transfers as it was the authority of Prime Minister only.  Commenting on missing persons’ case being heard by Supreme Court, she lamented.
