RAWALPINDI - Ambassador of Czech Republic Miroslov Krenek has said that his country eager to enhance trade relations with Pakistan and have already invested in two energy projects of 250 MW.

Czech Republic could assist Pakistan in engineering and electronics sectors to further enhance the bilateral trade relations, he added. He expressed these views with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Jawed Akhtar Bhatti during his visit to the Chamber here on Friday.

On the occasion, senior vice president Raja Amer Iqbal, vice president Chudhary Iqbal Ahmed and other members of the Chambers were also present. Ambassador said that Pakistan was a safe place for foreign investment. He further said that Czech Republic was one of few countries in the European Union who has remarkable trade volume of $42.5 million with Pakistan. “But it is need of the hour to further enhance the bilateral trade volume between two countries”, he added. He said that Pakistani products such as chemical, paper, rubber, sports good and textile products were very eminent in Republic.

Speaking on the occasion President RCCI Jawed Akhtar Bhatti said that Pakistan was striving hard to come out of the prevailing global economic crunch and energy downfall in the country. He said that Pakistan needs trade not aid and it was the right time for the friends of Pakistan to come forward and help Pakistan by investing in the country. He demanded of the Ambassador that Free Trade Agreement (FTA) should be signed to further enhance the trade relation between the two countries.

Ambassador ensured his full cooperation in this regard.
