LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Friday sought report from Cabinet Division on a petition filed by medicine factories seeking permission to increase the prices of different medications.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has directed the cabinet division, drug control pricing and chief drug controller to file the report till Feb 13.

The Petitioner EPLA laboratories submitted that federal government was not allowing an increase in prices of medicines including Epidox, Cipamox and others manufactured in the factory. It contended that the matter of price increase was subjected to the province subsequent to the 18th constitutional amendment. The petitioner deemed that the act of the federal government was discriminatory as it has revised the prices of 821 medicines but the prices of petitioner’s medicines were not revised.

EPLA requested the court to allow it to increase in the prices of medicines and direct the federal government not to interfere in the matter of price fixing of medicines.
