LAHORE – Sui Northern Executive Officers Association (SNEOA) observed strike on the second day on Friday along with the Employees Union of the SNGPL at the company’s head-office and regional offices all over Punjab.

The strike is continuing against the arrest of an Executive Engineer Shahid Shaukat by Federal Investigation Agency on the charges of corruption and abuse of power.

The SNGPL officials say that they will continue their protest till the release of Shahid Shaukat and appealed to the authorities concerned to play their role for the prompt release of the ‘duty-bound and dedicated company executive.’  The protesters told TheNation that the boycott would continue until charges against Shaukat were dropped. They said Shaukat was being victimised for exposing the corruption of influential people.

They said that the company’s campaign against gas theft (UFG campaign) would suffer if such kind of actions were taken against honest officials like Shaukat who disconnected hundreds of illegal connections of influential people involved in gas theft.

On the other side, consumers faced inconvenience who visited the company’s offices on Friday with complaints.
