Twenty five members of a marriage party of Alipur Chattha were injured, four of them seriously including two women and two bike riders, when their van plunged in a roadside ditch near Kot Ishaq village, about 15 kilo meter from here on Monday.

The Rescue-1122 removed the injured to the hospital from where five of them have been referred to Lahore hospital in critical condition. The marriage party was proceeding towards Kot Momin from Alipur Chattha when the driver of the vehicle in a bid to save a motorcyclist, lost control over the vehicle as a result of which the van overturned and fell in the roadside ditch. Bike rider Waqar and his sister-in-law Yasemeen also received serious injuries. Those who have been referred to Lahore hospital included Waqar, Eman, Yasmeen and Robina.

DACOITIES: Local citizens have expressed grave concern over the increasing incidents of dacoity, robbery, bike snatching and cattle lifting in the district and called upon the police to take concrete steps to decrease such incidents.

Addressing a press conference, Rana Khalid Mehmood, president of Awami Mahaz Hafizabad, regretted that due to the negligence and slackness of police, crime incidents have been increased for the past over two months. Carrying of firearms and aerial firing on marriages and other social functions have become order of the day and the police have failed to check this tendency. He also demanded crackdowns on proclaimed offenders for providing sense of security to the common man.
