In the education sector, Sheikhpura district was ranked at 30th position across the Punjab province due to negligence of the education staff, unavailability of basic facilities at institutions and absence of teachers.

Earlier, Sheikhupura district had 10th position in Punjab which consists of 34 districts.

Apca Education Wing District President Naeem Mallhi said this during a press briefing here the other day. He alleged that EDO Education Tariq Rafique was responsible for the poor performance of the district education department. He said that the EDO who did not pay any attention to tackle the situation. He said that the local education officials negligence, prolonged non-availability of basic facilities and absence of government schoolteachers were main reasons of decrease the performance of the education department.

He  demanded early transfer of the EDO and appointed honest and competent of this post.  On the other hand, the EDO Education denied all allegation and said the entire teachers were deputed on various other assignments like election, dengue and different other programmes.

250 THEFT CASES: Lesco teams got electricity theft cases registered against 250 persons in an operation launched in this connection. This was stated by Executive Engineer Umer Bilal in a briefing on Monday. The raiding team conducted raids in urban and rural areas in the district and detected the electricity thieves. They are mostly industrialist and influential land lords, he added. The raids would remain in process to avert this menace and the line loses would also automatically be reduce. An amount of rupees 75 million have also been recovered from the defaulters with in the shortest period, the executive engineer said.
