LAHORE - As many as 203 athletes out of 1063 qualified for the next phase on the second day of Divisional Level Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) competitions here on Monday. The Lahore Division remained quite busy in PYF events as compared to other divisions. As many as 400 athletes featured in various events out of which 22 managed to grab victories in their respective events. The players belonging to Lahore dominated the arm-wrestling, chess and mud-wrestling competitions held at Iqbal Sports Complex. All the top players of Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur districts of Lahore Division took part in the PYF events. Lahore’s Zameer Sultan defeated Ghulam Haider of Sheikhupura in arm-wrestling final of below 70kg category contest while the title of below 85kg class went to Hamad Asad also from Lahore against Asad of Nankana Sahib. In over 85kg category title clash, Hafiz Haider of Lahore overcame M Fayyaz of Sheikhupura. A large number of sports enthusiasts also witnessed exciting mud-wrestling encounters on the same venue where M Sarwar of Sheikhupura got top position in 65kg category followed by Lahore’s Abdus Sattar.
