RAWALPINDI - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Monday seized a huge quantity of narcotics during the ongoing operation at different localities of the country and arrested 7 smugglers including 1 foreigner and 3 ladies.
The action was taken against the drug peddlers and smugglers at Rawalpindi, Lahore and Quetta, informed AND Headquarters spokesman on Monday.
According to him, ANF foiled heroin and Methamphetamine smuggling bids at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP) by arresting two smugglers Abdul Majeed and Kulsoom Bibi, who were to travel to Jeddah by Shaheen Airline.
A total of 1.1 kg heroin and 600 grams of Methamphetamine was recovered from the detainees, he added. A passenger Umer Bilal was also nabbed by ANF from the same flight at BBIIAP after recovering 1.45 kg of Methamphetamine (Ice) from him that was concealed in his shoes.
ANF Lahore arrested a Nigerian national Ehrim Anthony, hails from, Lagos from Makkah Colony and recovered 500 grams of heroin from his possession; he said adding that a team recovered 450 grams of heroin at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore from the possession of a lady Robina Bibi and arrested her on the spot. Similarly, some 400 grams of heroin recovered from a parcel that was booked for England.
Nigerian team briefed ICT police
Nigerian IGP Mohammed Abubakar, called on his Islamabad counterpart Sikandar Hayat and discussed matters of mutual interest.
A press note issued from media cell of ICT police stated on Monday that IGP Sikandar briefed the visiting Nigerian delegation about the steps taken by the Islamabad Police for checking the law and order situation, besides professional activities for enhancing the skills and responsibilities through trainings of the police force in the federal capital.
