Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has signed death warrants of 12 convicted terrorists, Waqt News reported. The militants have been sentenced over involvement in numerous terror activities.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) the militants had been involved in attacks on military forces and the Bannu Jail attack.These convicts were tried by military courts.

They included:

Muhammad Arbi S/O Hafiz Muhammad Sadiq: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in abetting attack on Bannu Jail, owing to which large number of convicted terrorists managed to escape from the jail and also caused injuries to police constables and soldiers. He was also involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agency which caused death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Rafi Ullah S/O Muhammad Miskeen: The convict was an active member of Sepah-e-Sahaba. He was involved in abetting the murder of Syed Waqar Haider and causing injury to Abdul Sattar Tahir in Lahore. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

Qari Asif Mehmood S/O Muhammad Anwar: The convict was an active member of Sepah-e-Sahaba. He was involved in abetting murder of Syed Waqar Haider and causing injury to Abdul SattarTahir in Lahore. He was also in possession of fire arms and explosives. He was tried on 4 charges and awarded death sentence.

Shawaleh S/O Gul Khan: the convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agency which caused death and in juriesto soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Muhammad Zeeshan S/O Abdul Qayyum Khan: The convict was an active member of Al-Qaida. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offence before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried and awarded death sentence.

Nasir Khan S/O Khan Afsar Khan: The convict was an active member of Al-Qaida. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Shoukat Ali S/O Abdul Jabbar: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agency and Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 5 charges and awarded death sentence.

Imdad Ullah S/O Abdul Wajid: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in destruction of an educational institution in District Buner and attacking Law Enforcement Agency which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 5 charges and awarded death sentence.

Muhammad Umar S/O Saida Jan: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in destruction of an educational institution in Pakistan and attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 5 charges and awarded death sentence.

Sabir Shah S/O Syed Ahmed Shah: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death of soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Khandan S/O Dost Muhammad Khan: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Anwar Ali S/O Fazal Ghani: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces which resulted in death and injuries to soldiers. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Pakistan established military courts folllowing the APS Peshawar attack in 2014. They were established under National Action Plan (NAP) for “swift justice”. The military courts have given death sentences to numerous convicted terrorists.
