Millepied gives ballet elbow in final Paris season

PARIS:- Choreographer Benjamin Millepied’s final season at the Paris Opera Ballet, unveiled Wednesday, contains only two classical ballets - with his successor pointedly declaring that her time in charge will be very different. Dance star Millepied - husband of Hollywood actress Natalie Portman - spectacularly quit the bastion of classical ballet last week after little more than a year in charge, after his plans to radically reform the institution ran into the sand. His final season has only two ballets, “Swan Lake” and “La Sylphide”, alongside 11 mostly American contemporary pieces, with five alone by George Balanchine.–AFP
