The traders, employees of different government departments and perturbed citizens held separate protest demonstrations here and demanded solution to the problems they are faced with.
The traders of gold market here went on strike against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raid at money changer shop on Wednesday. An FIA team conducted the raid at money changer shop situated at local gold market over the charges of illegal business of foreign currency.
However, some people at the shop offered resistant to FIA team and fled away. FIA team called city police for assistance. Meanwhile, on the call made by the Gold Market Association, all the shops were closed. Besides, the residents of New Satellite Town staged a protest demonstration over faulty sewerage system and unavailability of potable water.
The protestors burnt tyres and suspended traffic. They said that due to defected sewerage and clogged manholes, smelly and filthy water accumulated on streets and road. They also demanded solution to the problems and provision f basic facilities of life.
Another demonstration was observed by Railways employees at railway station against possible privatisation of Railway Department while technical staff of Health Department and labor union of Irrigation Department also staged demonstration and took out protest rallies at Commissioner officer for increase in their salaries and up-gradation of scales.
