READ Foundation to raise funds for its schools

islamabad - Education in Pakistan is in a state of emergency where more than 25 million children are out of schools because of scarcity of resources, Raja Shafiq, executive of READ Foundation, an organisation promoting education in the country, said during an event on Saturday.

He said that a major hurdle for education of these children was scarcity of resources. He said that the foundation aimed at raising funds for its 382 institutions, especially those for orphaned children. He said that the students enrolled in their schools would be made part of the fund raising project.

“The mental and social abilities of the students to be raising funds for their schools will improve and the passion for human service will be instilled”, he added.

The first phase of the movement will be targeting Islamabad and Rawalpindi while in the next phase, countrywide campaign will be launched, he said. He appealed to the parents and teachers to play their role in boosting the morale of their students for promoting education for orphaned and less-privileged children.

He said that there were 0.1 million children enrolled in the foundation’s schools, receiving standard education, out of whom, almost 10,000 children were orphans.
