ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on January 6, for the all groups of income witnessed decrease of 0.24 percent as against the previous week. SPI for the combined group was registered at 203.99 during the week under review as against 204.49 recorded during previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics. As compared to the corresponding week of the last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 19.25pc. SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.22pc over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 213.33 as against 213.23 registered in the previous week. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. As compared to last week, the SPI for the group falling in the income brackets of 3001-5000, 5001-12000 and above 12000 decreased by 0.1, 0.17 and 0.26 percent respectively. During the week under review average prices of 12 items registered decrease, while that of 12 items increase with the remaining 29 items' prices unchanged. The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included, egg hen (farm), onions, wheat flour (average quality), potatoes, chicken (farm), kerosene, garlic, mutton, red chillies, mustard oil, rice (rri-6) and tomatoes. The items which registered increase in their prices included, vegetable ghee (loose), LPG, sugar, gur, bananas, gram pulse (washed), cooked dal, firewood, moong pulse (washed), wheat (average quality), rice basmati (broken) and masoor pulse (washed). The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, mash pulse (washed), beef, bread plain (mid size), milk (fresh), milk (powdered), curd, vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil (tin), salt (powdered), tea (packet), tea (prepared), cooked beef, cigarettes, coarse latha, lawn, voil (printed), shirting, sandal (gents), sandal (ladies), chappal spng., electricity bulb (60wats), match box, washing soap, bath soap, gas charges (up to 3.3719 MMBTU), electricity charges, petrol, diesel and telephone local call.
