Crises officebearer booked for dealing in fake urea

SADIQABAD - An executive member of the Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries has been booked for selling fake fertilisers worth hundreds of thousands of rupees during a raid conducted by the district officer (agriculture).
Rana Naseer Ahmad, a landlord, had submitted a complaint to the DO, pleading that RYKCCI’s Executive Body member Riazur Rehman was selling fake fertilisers at Adda Pulsani. He added that he bought 17 bags of DAP and 34 bags of DAP international fertiliser from Al-Rehman Sray Centre and the dealer was selling it without fear. He alleged that the fertilisers bought from the dealer had played havoc with his crops.
In reaction, the DO conducted a raid on the spray centre and the shops of Shafiq fertilisers dealer and seized a huge cache of fake urea fertiliser. Talking to the media, DO (Agriculture) Javed Iqbal said that the fake fertilisers’ sellers are anti-state elements who are keen to destroy the agriculture sector for their financial gains, pledging to bring such elements to book.
Later, the DO sent a dispatch to the police station concerned to get an FIR registered against the dealer and the entre’s owner(s). Whereupon, the police have registered a case and started investigations while the accused are still at large.
