ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People’s Party vice president Babar Awan on Tuesday recalled the Agartala conspiracy case in the backdrop of the court’s order regarding the non-implementation of its December 16, 2009 judgment on NRO.

Talking to mediamen at Supreme Court building, Babar Awan said he had talked about the Agartala case on December 1, 2011 and once again on Monday he did not know why he was remembering the East Pakistan tragedy and those people who had constituted the Tribunal in Agartala case.

PPP leader said that 180 million people of the country had elected Yousuf Raza Gilani as prime minister and they were the best judge to decide about his eligibility and honesty. He said that country’s four assemblies had elected President Zardari in the same way his wife (Benazir Bhutto) was nominated PM two times as well as opposition leader twice and his father Hakim Zardari as the member of the parliament in the past.  He also referred to Article 187 (2) of the Constitution in which jurisdiction of Supreme Court was defined. He stated that it should also be noted that who had filed the petitions against NRO as one of them (Mobashir Hassan) was removed by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto from the party post.

Awan said he would give his point of view on the court’s decision after reading the full judgment.
