KARACHI - A large part of Tuesday’s session of Sindh Assembly was wasted in questions regarding the accommodation at Sindh House, Islamabad, where suites were occupied by the officers of President House Islamabad or other departments’ of federal government.

Despite huge number of 33 questions listed for the Question-Hour, which pertained to Works and Services Department, which holds by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, the House took up only four questions owing to large number of supplementary queries raised by the lawmakers.

On behalf of the chief minister, who was not present in the House, Sindh Law and Jails Minister Ayaz Soomro responded the supplementary queries of lawmakers, which mostly remained unanswered or could not satisfy the house.

In the written reply, the department informed the House that some officials have permanently occupied some rooms of Sindh House, Islamabad including Nazir Ahmed Mallah, Chief Security Officer, C/O President House; Ghulam Qadir Jamot, DG Prime Minister’s Task Force; Jamil Soomro, media advisor, C/O of President House; Gul Khan Kaka C/O President House; Khalid Ali Raza Gerdaizi, additional secretary (finance) Islamabad; Muhammad Ishaque Lashari, DG administration of President House Islamabad; Bilal Shaikh C/O of President House; Muhammad Saleem Khan, secretary Port and Shipping of federal government; Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, additional secretary, Minorities Affairs of federal government and Ghulam Sarwar Dars, PS to Overseas Pakistanis Minister.

When lawmakers asked about vacating the suites, the law minister changed his statement, saying that these suits were not occupied permanently but were allotted through a set procedure.

Arif Jatoi of NPP asked that the VIP suite-1 of Sindh House Islamabad has always reserved for Sindh Assembly Speaker but it has been occupied by the chief security officer of President House. Soomro contradicted the information and said that the accommodation facility was used by the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, senior ministers of Sindh government and other personalities of Sindh government in VIP suite-1 at Sindh House.

Nusrat Sehar Abbasi of PML-F asked that the President represents all nation but the officers of presidential house are getting accommodation only in Sindh House, why not in Punjab House in Islamabad.
