LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir said on Tuesday that an effective methodology has been adopted by the police to uproot the scourge of drugs from the provincial metropolis.

According to a police spokesman, Ahmad Raza Tahir has directed the police officers that early eradication of drug dens in the city should be ensured otherwise concerned officers would be held responsible.

An official handout issued on Tuesday said that City police had launched special campaign against narcotics, registered 10,627 cases and arrested 11,400 culprits during 2011. The police also recovered 1,519 kg chars, 778 intoxicating pills, 2,146 injections and 70,795 bottles of liquor from their possession.

Meanwhile, the IG Prisons Mian Farooq Nazeer called on CCPO Ahmad Raza Tahir at his office on Tuesday. He remained with the CCPO for sometime during which various matters of mutual and professional interest were discussed, police spokesman further said.
