LAHORE – The Punjab government has failed to fulfill its constitutional duty of protecting the life and property of the people of the province, claims Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, senior PML-Q leader.
He expressed these views while talking to the media after attending the last rites ceremony of slain lawyer, Nasrullah Warraich on Tuesday. He said that members of the legal fraternity who assist the masses in getting justice are being killed in the provincial metropolis.
Pervaiz added that such incidents would continue to occur in the province till the time the government would not charge its constitutional-bound responsibilities. PML-Q senior leader claimed that around 400 crimes of robberies, kidnapping for ransom and street crimes were taking place in the provincial capital on daily bases, while the chief minister who also belongs to the City failed to protect the life and property of the people of his own hometown.
Claiming that the PML-Q government had brought calm in the province, he said the sitting government had either stopped or reversed the programmes of the PML-Q government regarding controlling the crime was causing the increasing crime rate in the province.
