Skeleton of navy’s missing employee recovered

KARACHI - Wrapped in a cloth, a skeleton said to be that of a missing civilian employee of the Pakistan Navy was recovered from an abandoned plot in Macchar Colony in the limits of the Docks Police Station on Tuesday. Abdul Rauf had disappeared ten-and-a-half month back.
Sources said the skeleton was recovered by local and naval police when a suspect detained by personnel of the naval police was interrogated.
Rauf had left his house in Naval Quarters, Agra Taj Colony, to visit his tenants in Macchar Colony on February 19. His cellphone had also been turned off. He had been stationed at the navy’s sub-depot for the past 20 years. After his disappearance, a case had been registered in the Kalri Police Station.
According to SHO Asif Munawar, the victim had been killed shortly after his abduction. A blood-stained screwdriver, seized from the crime spot, has been sent to the Civil Hospital Karachi for examination. It would be verified today whether the skeleton is of Rauf.
According to a medico-legal officer, police surgeon Dr Hamid Padhair is on the board that is examining the skeleton.
