KARACHI - The 93rd birth anniversary of Shaheed Hakim Muhammad Said was fondly celebrated by the staff of Hamdard and students of Hamdard Public School and College on January 9. The day was started by offering fateha and laying of floral wreathes at the mausoleum of the Shaheed at Madinat al-Hikmah. This was followed by a food fair/mela at the Bilawal Stadium, Hamdard Public School Campus.Inaugurating the food fair, the chief guest and Managing Director of Oxford University Press Pakistan Ameena Saiyid congratulated and appreciated the efforts of students and staff and organisers of the event for celebrating the birth anniversary of the founder of Hamdard Pakistan, Shaheed Hakim Muhammed Said, in such a befitting manner. The chief guest along with Hamdard Foundation Pakistan President Sadia Rashid and the Madinat al-Hikmah Vice-President Fatima Munir Ahmed took keen interest in the fair and visited over 20 stalls set up by students and staff, displaying various pieces of art work and handicrafts, done by students, and serving fast-food and other items on this occasion.CM SINDH, PRESIDENT CONDEMNS QUETTA BLAST: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday condemned the bomb blast at Bacha Khan Chowk, Quetta, which caused loss of precious lives and injuries.In a statement here, he said that such incidents of terrorism are the part of machinations of the anti-state elements aimed at causing instability.He expressed sorrow and grief at the casualties in this incident and sympathized with the affected family members.Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari Thursday strongly condemned the bomb blast at Bacha Khan Chowk, Quetta resulting in loss of precious lives and injuries to dozens.Expressing sympathies with the bereaved families, the President reiterated his firm resolve to continue fighting militancy till its logical end.He said such coward acts by a handful of militants cannot deter government’s commitment to curb militancy and terrorism in the country.The President expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He directed the concerned authorities to submit report of the unfortunate incident. He also directed the provincial government and all concerned to provide best medical treatment to those injured in the incident.
