KPK YDA demands posts

PESHAWAR  - Young Doctors Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded the PTI-led provincial government create new posts for trainees' medical officers (TMOs) in the province.
While addressing a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Friday, the YDA President Dr Alamgir Khan along with all Postgraduate Trainees Survival Alliance Chairman Dr Bashir, Student Doctors Coordination Council (SDCC) President Dr Ashfaq, and Dr Jamil from PIMA made the demand. He said that incumbent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has failed to create new posts of TMOs at Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) during passage of seven months.
Khan informed that around 300 candidates have qualified FCPS part-I examination, but there was only 140 posts of TMOs to induct them. He said the PGMI needs to create further 300 posts for induction of doctors, who qualified PCPS-part-I exams. In this regard, he added a summary was already sent to the chief minister through provincial health department, despite the fact that no new posts of TMOs were created at PGMI.
The YDA president said that the government was not taking serious steps to resolve issue regarding the induction of TMOs and safe precious time of the medical students. About the government claims of induction of 600 doctors in KPK, he said the doctors were inducted on ad hoc and contract basis, rather selection through provincial Public Service Commission.  They warned that if the government fails to create new posts for doctors, who qualified FCPS part-I examination till January 16, then the young doctors would be compelled to go on strike against it.
