Rawalpindi - The residents and relatives of Chatti Hattian blast victims on Saturday got infuriated and staged protest demonstration over the arrival of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, president of Awami Muslim League (AML) and elected MNA from NA-55, on the site of suicide blast.

The angry protestors sent Rashid back while chanting full-pitched slogans against him for visiting the suicide blast place late.

As a result, the MNA returned to Lal Haveli without seeing the damaged site or condoling with the relatives of the victims and area people.

According to details, the arrival of MNA Sheikh Rashid Ahmed sparked massive protest in Chitti Hattian with people gathered there and chanted slogans against the AML president. The most echoed slogan chanted by people was “Go Rashid Go.”

Zameer Ahmed, a local, while talking to The Nation said that the blast took place last night while their elected representative Sheikh Rashid Ahmed came today (Saturday) to inquire about the incident. “We voted him to power to solve our problems and not for rubbing salt into our wounds,” he said. He added, “We will not vote for him in next elections.”

Many other residents and locals of Chitti Hattian lodged similar kinds of complaints against the MNA. Seeing people in very angry mood, Rashid drove back to Lal Haveli without meeting anybody in Chitti Hattian.

When contacted, AML President Sheikh Ahmed denied that people went berserk upon his visit in Chitti Hattian. “No. not any such incident took place. No body staged protest upon my arrival in Chitti Hattian,” he added.

On a query, he blamed some TV channels for propagating against him just to dent his fame.
