The suspects belong to a banned organisation having roots in Afghanistan and South Waziristan, said Attock DPO Israr Ahmed Abbasi addressing a press conference at his office.

He said the arrested accused were identified as Inam Rahim of Chungi No 7, Usman Jalil of Khunda Attock, Shamsur Rehman of Dhok Fateh, Dr Arif Usmani of and Maulana M Kosar of People Colony Attock. They had killed eight persons including Constable Wasiq and Bilal Ahmed, IB Official Qamar Anees, retired army soldier Sajjad Haider, security guard Aslam, Amjad Hussain alias Anji Papa, Alamdar Hussain and Latif Aslam, he detailed.

The DPO said that the target killers had created fear and sense of insecurity among the masses and their arrest was a big challenge for the police. He said that these “target killers” had links in Afghanistan and Waziristan and used to take refuge there after committing murders.

“They had undergone training in Afghanistan. The culprits during initial investigation have confessed to their crimes. They have also given information about their other accomplices who would soon be arrested. The credit of these arrests goes to the police team including DSP Shoukat Shah, DSP Hafeez Aulakh and others,” he said.
