LAHORE: PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the Parliament did not compromise on its powers while legislating on the military courts since the cases would be referred to them through the federal courts and not the commanding officer which the Army Act requires.

Speaking as chief guest at the launching of a book “Ataturk: the Rebirth of a Nation” here on Saturday, Aitzaz Ahsan said that Kamal Ataturk was such a leader that Quaid-e-Azam also admired him. “What sort of country and system the Quaid wanted for this country is clearly reflected in his address to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947 where a Hindu, Joghindernath Mandal, was assigned to frame first Constitution,” the barrister added.–Staff Reporter

He said if the country had to be saved, the theme of Jinnah about Pakistan where no discrimination existed and where everyone had freedom to practice he religion, must be implemented.

National Party Senator Mir Hasil Bajenjo, Furrukh Sohail Goindi and Mahmood Mirza also participated in the ceremony and also spoke on the occasion.
