Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that Narowal would soon be given the status of sister city of a Chinese city for opening the new vistas of socio-economic development here.

He said that it would be made a model district of the Punjab. A delegation of Chinese engineers and urban development experts will also visit Narowal soon for chalking out a comprehensive plan for the uplift of the city.

Addressing a meeting of the newly elected public representatives, the federal minister asked the elected representatives to come forward for playing their pivotal role in the uplift of Narowal district. He also urged them to play a pivotal role in strengthening sustainable democracy, democratic institutions and democratic norms. He said that the promotion of durable democracy was vital for the national development and prosperity.

Iqbal announced to establish an international standard state-of-the-art medical college at Narowal soon, saying the Narowal DHQ Hospital would also be upgraded to 400 beds soon for providing better and advance medical and health cover at the local level.

He said that the PML-N government was striving to strengthen the national institutions as it was need of the hour. He said that strengthening of the national and public institutions will ultimately strengthen the country.

MNAs Daniyal Aziz, Mian Rasheed Ahmed, MPAs Khawaja Waseem Butt, Awais Qasim Khan, Shujaat Ahmed Khan, Rana Manan Ahmed Khan, Maulana Ghiyasud Din and Sardar Ramaish Singh Arora were also present.
