rawalpindi - A five-day anti-polio drive would start today (Monday) in the district Rawalpindi.

During the campaign, almost 811,000 children below five years of age would be administered polio drops. Some 1740 teams have been constituted to achieve the target. The health department has finalised all the arrangements, this was stated by Executive District Health Officer Dr. Arshad Ali Sabir talking to APP on Sunday.

“We have taken special measures to further strengthen the coverage during the anti-polio drive,” he said. Special counters would be established at public parks, railway station, bus stands, wagon stands, airport and other transit points to administer anti-polio drops to the children so that no child up to the age of five years could remain unattended, he added.

Dr Arshad said the district health department would try to make Rawalpindi polio-free. He hoped that the campaign would achieve the set target.
