Islamabad - Capital Development Authority and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad have started preparations for planting over 600,000 saplings during the spring season in the federal capital.

Executive Director of Environment Directorate CDA Sanaullah Aman said on Wednesday that the spring plantation drive would be launched on February 15, adding that the saplings would be planted in collaboration with various non-government organisations, schools, colleges, universities and other organisations.

The campaign would focus parks, Margalla hills and green belts. Fruit trees would be planted in sizable number, he said, adding that the topmost priority of the CDA was to make the federal capital a greener and beautiful city of the world. He said that tree plantation ensured clean environment and contributed in minimising pollution.

The CDA would plant shadowy and fruit trees in each sector of the capital, he concluded.
