LAHORE - The action committee, comprising leaders from different parties, will meet at PAT head office today to devise strategy to launch a joint move against government over Model Town tragedy 2014.

PAT spokesman Noorullah Siddiqui confirmed the participation of Awami Muslim League President Sheikh Rasheed, PPP Leader Qamar Zaman Kaira, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, PTI Leader Aleem Khan, PML-Q Leader Ch Zaheerudin, Sunni Ittehad Council Head Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Majlise Wahdatul Muslimeen Leader Nasir Sheerzai, the members of the action committee, in the meeting scheduled to be held at 11am.

“It is likely the participants be agreed to choose Mall Road as the venue of the protest movement scheduled to be started from January 17 [Wednesday],” said Siddiqui.

The steering committee formed under a unanimous resolution passed by the PAT hosted multi-party conference on December 31 had already announced that the protest movement to overthrow PML-N government will start from Lahore. Leaders from all opposition parties are the members of the steering committee.

“Our protest move will not end until the achievement of its objective,” he said, adding the PTI, PPP, JI, PML-Q, MWM and other parties were fully committed to provide every kind of assistance to the movement.

The PAT Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had announced that besides Model Town issue, the rulers were to be held accountable on “their massive corruption and attempt to change finality of prophet-hood law” in the protest campaign.  Siddique said PAT the ill-fated incident of Kasur will also be on agenda items of today’s meeting.
