Won’t bury Zainab till her killer arrested: Parents

Rawalpindi: The parents of the 7-year-old Zainab, who was abducted, raped and later killed by a man in Kasur on Wednesday, said that they would not bury their daughter until the killer is caught and punished as per the law.

Zainab’s parents accused the police of showing negligence in search of their daughter after she went missing from her house. They also appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa to take notice of the inhuman incident and order the police to arrest the killer.

Speaking to media persons at Benazir Bhutto International Airport after arriving back from Umrah, Muhammad Amin, the father of ill-fated girl, said that he was performing Umrah when his daughter was kidnapped and killed in Kasur. He said that the body of Zainab was recovered from a heap of garbage. He said that the autopsy report revealed that she had been assaulted sexually and later strangulated to death.

“We will not perform burial rituals of Zainab until the killer is held by the police,” he said.

“The Police did not take the matter of my daughter’s abduction serious. Had the police acted on time, the kidnapper would have been apprehended,” said mother of the deceased in chocked voice. She added that she had nothing to say but wanted justice for her innocent daughter. She said that the rapist should be hanged in front of the public.  Earlier, heart-throbbing scenes could be witnessed at airport as a large number of relatives of the couple gathered to receive them at the airport.  Later on, the grieved parents proceeded to Kasur.–Staff reporter
