ISLAMABAD - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday asked the political parties to file their statements of accounts for financial year 2007-2008, latest by August 29 this year. Each political party is to submit under the Article 13 of the Political Parties Order to the ECP within sixty days from the close of each financial year, a consolidated statement of accounts of the party containing annual income and expenses, sources of its funds, and assets and liabilities, duly audited by a chartered accountant. According to the ECP sources, the statement of accounts of the party is required to be accompanied by a certificate signed by the party leader stating that the party received no fund from any source prohibited under Political Parties Order. , 2002, and the statement contains an accurate financial position of the party. The political parties are required to submit statement of accounts in Form-I as prescribed under the Political Parties Rules, 2002. Printed free of cost forms are available in the Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad, and in the offices of the Provincial Election Commissioners, Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan. The statements shall be delivered to the Secretary ECP in the Election Commission Secretariat, Constitution Avenue, G-5/2, Islamabad through an office bearer of the party, duly authorised by the party leader. As per provisions of rule 11 of the Political Parties Rules, 2002, statement received through post, fax, courier service or any other mode is not going to be entertained.
