LAHORE - PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain Thursday predicted coalition government's fall within two months, saying the change in present set-up had become inevitable owing to its failure in addressing problems of public concern. Addressing a news conference along with Leader of the Opposition Ch Pervaiz Elahi, after chairing party's parliamentary committee meeting at Muslim League House here, Shujaat said that government had completely failed on internal, external and economic fronts and people were much worried about inflation, lawlessness and other issues. They were also fed up with its undemocratic and revengeful actions, he added. Party parliamentarians, officer bearers and ticket holders attended the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Ch Parvaiz Elahi stressed upon party leaders and workers to get united and well-prepared for providing substitute leadership to the people. He asked present rulers to bring down prices of essential commodities, as they had been blaming the former PML Govt. for the inflation and other problems. He accused the present government of lacking vision and approach required to solve common man's problems. He said incompetent rulers were creating frustration among the masses by ignoring the problems being faced by them. Instead of concentrating on their commitments made during the election campaign they were indulging in petty politics, he added. Former CM said that in spite of positive and democratic attitude of the opposition in and outside the Parliament the rulers were busy in arresting and harassing the political opponents by registering false cases against them in Punjab and Sindh. At least 150 false cases in each district were registered against our leaders and workers, he alleged. Giving details, he said that Ajmal Asif a PML MPA in Faisalabad was subjected to revengeful action by setting his factory on fire, and arresting him on false charges of murder. Another MPA Saba Sadiq who had refused to join hands with the ruling party was served with notices of demolition of her house. He asked the rulers to abide by democratic norms and give due respect to the elected representatives of the people and civil servants. Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi said the new government had failed to launch any new mega project so far, while it was pursuing policies of the PML government by allowing continuation of Parha Likha Punjab Programme in the budget. He said the PML government granted autonomy to hospitals in 2002 but the PML-N-led Punjab government had claimed credit. He said the Punjab government was functioning in the absence of opposition. The leader of the opposition in Punjab Assembly had not been nominated despite the fact that opposition showed its strength six times. Parvaiz asserted that Afghan President Hamid Karzai had never dared to speak against Pakistan nor the US threatened to strike inside Pakistan during the tenure of the PML government. He asked as to why the government was maintaining a discreet silence over the attitude of both Karzai and the US. Parvaiz said that 1,500 megawatts of electricity was not being generated because of govt's mismanagement as it was not paying outstanding amounts of Independent Power Producers who had stopped supplying electricity in turn. Answering a question, he said that local bodies' system was under constitutional umbrella until 2009 and any action against it could be challenged in the court of law. Pervaiz said there was no forward block in PML and party had decided to send reference against one or two members of the PA for their hostile activities. He said participation and involvement in the party meeting was much more than the expectations and it has been decided to re-organize the party at grass roots level by appointing organizing committees and organisers at district level following consultations with the local party leadership and active workers preferring those who always stood with the party in any situation.
