LAHORE - Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mahmood has said the District Coordination Officers will run the administrative affairs in all districts till the final decision by the federal government about Local Government System, and a summary will be sent to competent authority for this purpose. He was talking to journalists during an open katchery at Civil Secretariat on Friday. About the promotion of the PCS employees, Chief Secretary said the meeting of the Provincial Selection Board-I would be held on July 13 in which decision regarding promotion of officers would be taken. He further said the junior officers were working on the posts of Secretaries, and they would have to prove their ability and performance as it is our agenda that new hardworking and able officers should be given a chance so that they could run the administrative affairs in a better way. As many as 115 people presented their applications for resolution of their problems on this occasion. On a number of applications Chief Secretary directed the Additional Secretary Coordination to immediately contact the Secretaries of concerned departments for redressal of their complaints. Chief Secretary, while taking immediate action on the application of Muhammad Ilyas belonging to Rahim Yar Khan, who had been deprived of eyesight by opponents during firing on a land dispute, issued instructions on phone to the Inspector General Punjab that the accused nominated in the FIR should be arrested within 24 hours and report be submitted to him. Javed Mahmood said the government was making strenuous efforts to immediately resolve the problems of every complainant.
