LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif has demanded of the government to play its role in bringing the killers of Nawab Akbar Bugti to justice forthwith. He was talking to grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti and Jamhoori Watan Party chief Shah Zain Bugti who called on him at his residence at Raiwind residence on Friday. Terming the assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti a brutal act, he said it would not be compromised. Implementation of the recommendations made by a committee formed in this behalf could have formed the basis for punishing the military dictator, who tampered with the Constitution of Pakistan, killed Nawab Akbar Bugti and threw out my constitutional government, lamented Nawaz, adding that unrest in Balochistan, terrorism in Pakistan, and drone attacks were the legacy of the Musharraf era. He said the nation was deeply concerned over prevailing situation in Balochistan. Nawaz said, The grievances and concerns of Baloch people cannot be lost sight of and without provincial cohesion and confidence the federation cannot survive. He said the PML-N would plead for the case of Baloch people in the same way as it did in the struggle for restoration of judiciary. Nawaz said the country could not afford to face in Balochistan the East Pakistan-like situation when the majority party was not allowed to form government and Mujeebur Rehman was detained in West Pakistan. Such situations surface due to dictatorship and martial laws. He said after the February 18 mandate given by the people, the time had come that the Baloch people were given their due rights and they were compensated for the rulers past mistakes. We want to assure the people of Balochistan that we will fight their case till they get their rights, he said. Sharif maintained that the situation in Balochistan was grave and that the grievances of its people could not be ignored. He said the PML-N would not spare those who killed Nawab Akbar Bugti. His killers must be brought to justice, he asserted. If Pakistan was not de-tracked again and again by military adventures, we would today not be staring in the face of total gloom. I absolutely have no doubt that all the problems that we face today, including extremism and militancy, would not have raised their head were it not for the military coups. Later on, Shah Zain Bugti invited Nawaz Sharif to visit the Balochistan soon.
