SIALKOT - The Punjab government approved a multi-phase programme of road infrastructure for Sialkot to make it a model district of the Punjab.

MPAs Manshaullah Butt, Ch Ikram and Ch Arshad Warraich said that the govt had approved a mega project of establishing Ring Road around the Sialkot city and allocated Rs100m for making feasibility report and its design.

The Punjab govt had allocated Rs200m in its financial budget for dualisation of Sialkot-Eimanabad Road, and approved a project of construction and dualisation of Kingra-Sialkot Road by allocating Rs249.872m, they added.

They added that the government had allocated Rs50m for a Rs188.819m project of construction of eight-kilometre Pasrur-Chawinda Road, and allocated Rs39.092m for the construction of Badiana-Daska-Pasrur Road via villages Dugri and Jodhala. They said that these roads would especially facilitate the farmers, enabling them to bring their yields to the local fruit and vegetables markets.

The lawmakers added that Rs60 million was being spent for upgradation of Pasrur THQ Hospital, saying that the government had also allocated Rs44.640 million for providing facilities to the Cardiology Department of Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot.
